Description

Sizes & Thickness

Standard Dog Poop Bag Sizes & Thickness Options

Choose the bag size and film thickness according to dog size, waste volume, expected load and target product cost. Our standard compostable dog poop bags are available in three practical size ranges, with thickness adjustable for different private label requirements.

Standard Size & Thickness Guide

The following specifications provide a practical starting point for standard retail and private label dog waste bag programs.

Standard compostable dog poop bag sizes and typical film thickness
Size Dimensions Typical Thickness Recommendation
S 220 × 330 mm 12–15 μm For small dogs; 12 μm can be used as a cost-effective option.
M 230 × 330 mm 15–17 μm Standard size; 15 μm is recommended for general use.
L 230 × 380 mm 17–20 μm For larger dogs; 18–20 μm is recommended for higher load capacity and tear resistance.

Custom dog poop bags-Standard Size & Thickness Guide

How to Choose the Right Size

Bag size should be selected based on the expected waste volume and the amount of material needed to tie and handle the filled bag. A larger bag is not always necessary for every dog, while an undersized bag can make tying and handling more difficult.

S

220 × 330 mm

Suitable for small-dog waste bags where a compact format and lower material consumption are important. A thickness around 12 μm can be considered when the target product is focused on cost efficiency.

M

230 × 330 mm

The most versatile standard format for general retail and private label programs. Around 15 μm provides a practical starting point for balancing bag strength, material consumption and target cost.

L

230 × 380 mm

Designed for larger dogs and applications where a larger waste volume needs to be contained. A thickness of approximately 18–20 μm is recommended when higher load capacity and tear resistance are required.

How Thickness Affects Bag Performance

Film thickness affects material consumption, handling strength and resistance to tearing. For the same bag dimensions, increasing thickness generally increases material usage and can improve resistance to puncture and tearing, but thickness should be selected together with the material formulation and film processing conditions.

For cost-sensitive products, a thinner specification may be appropriate when the bag size and expected load are relatively small. For larger formats, increasing thickness helps provide additional material strength without relying on bag dimensions alone.

For custom orders, the final thickness should be confirmed through samples and performance testing. Bag strength depends not only on thickness, but also on the compostable resin formulation, film quality and bottom-seal performance.

Material & Performance

Compostable Material & Performance Options

Material formulation, film thickness and sealing quality all affect the performance of a compostable dog poop bag. We can adjust the material structure and film specification according to the required bag size, load capacity and target cost.

Compostable Material Options

PBAT + PLA

A commonly used compostable film structure for dog waste bags. The formulation can be adjusted to achieve a suitable balance between flexibility, film strength and processing performance.

PBAT + PLA + Starch

A starch-containing compostable formulation option for buyers looking to develop a different material composition or target cost. The final formulation can be selected according to the required film and bag performance.

Performance Factors for Procurement

For dog poop bags, performance should be evaluated as a combination of film thickness, material formulation, film processing and bag sealing rather than by thickness alone.

Leak Resistance

The film should provide sufficient resistance to leakage during collection and disposal. Bag dimensions, film uniformity and bottom-seal quality all affect leak resistance.

Tear Resistance

Larger bags generally require more attention to tear resistance because they may contain a higher waste load. For the 230 × 380 mm L size, 18–20 μm is a practical starting range when higher load capacity is required.

Bottom-Seal Performance

The bottom seal is a critical point of the finished bag. A suitable sealing process helps reduce the risk of splitting or leakage when the filled bag is lifted or tied.

Flexibility & Handling

The film needs enough flexibility for users to open the bag, collect waste and tie the filled bag without excessive resistance. Material formulation and thickness should therefore be selected together.

Thickness vs. Performance

Increasing film thickness can provide additional material strength and help improve resistance to tearing and puncture, but it also increases material consumption and product cost. For this reason, the thickest available film is not necessarily the most suitable specification.

S Size 12–15 μm for 220 × 330 mm bags; 12 μm can be considered for cost-sensitive small-dog applications.
M Size 15–17 μm for 230 × 330 mm bags; 15 μm is a practical starting specification for general use.
L Size 17–20 μm for 230 × 380 mm bags; 18–20 μm is recommended when higher load capacity is required.

Scented or Unscented Options

Scented and unscented versions can be developed for different retail markets. Scent options can be discussed during product development, while unscented bags are available for buyers who prefer a neutral product.

Scented Suitable for private label products positioned around odor-masking or a more consumer-oriented experience.
Unscented Suitable for markets where a neutral smell is preferred or where fragrance is not required.

Customization Options

Custom Printed Dog Poop Bags for Private Label Brands

Customize the bag specification and retail presentation around your brand requirements. Size, thickness, printing, scent, roll configuration and packaging can be adjusted to match different product positioning, sales channels and target costs.

What Can Be Customized?

Each specification can be confirmed separately during product development, allowing buyers to build a finished dog poop bag product rather than selecting only a fixed stock specification.

01

Bag Size

Standard sizes include 220 × 330 mm, 230 × 330 mm and 230 × 380 mm. Custom dimensions can be developed when a brand requires a different bag capacity or retail specification.

02

Film Thickness

Film thickness can be adjusted according to bag size, expected load, required tear resistance and target cost. Typical ranges are 12–15 μm for S, 15–17 μm for M and 17–20 μm for L.

03

Custom Printing

Print your brand logo, product information, usage instructions or other approved artwork directly on the bag film. Printing colors and artwork can be confirmed before production.

04

Film Color

Film color can be selected according to the brand identity and product positioning. Custom color matching can be discussed based on the required film and printing specification.

05

Scent Options

Choose between scented and unscented versions. Fragrance options can be discussed during product development according to the target market and product positioning.

06

Roll Configuration

Bags per roll, roll dimensions and roll presentation can be adjusted for different retail formats. The final configuration should be matched with the selected bag size and packaging.

07

Retail Packaging

Customize the outer packaging with your brand identity, product information and retail requirements. Options can include custom printed boxes, roll packaging and carton configurations.

08

Carton Packing

Bulk carton packing can be arranged according to order volume, shipping requirements and warehouse handling. Carton quantity and packing method can be confirmed before mass production.

Custom Printing for Brand Packaging

Custom printing is suitable for brands that want the bag itself to carry product and brand information instead of using plain unprinted film. Artwork can be reviewed before printing to confirm the layout, colors and required information.

Product Information Add selected product information, instructions or other required artwork.
Printing Colors Printing colors can be confirmed according to the approved artwork and production specification.

Private Label Packaging Options

For retail and private label programs, the packaging should be planned together with the bag and roll configuration. This helps ensure the finished product fits the intended shelf format and shipping carton.

01 Bag Specification Size, thickness, material and scent
02 Roll Configuration Bags per roll and roll format
03 Brand Artwork Logo, printing and product information
04 Retail & Carton Packing Final packaging and bulk carton configuration
